Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Fine Mesh Sieve
  • Stirring Spoon
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Mugs or heatproof glasses

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cranberry apple juice
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 2 tbsp mulling spice blend
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional, for added sweetness
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries optional for added flavor and presentation
  • Cinnamon sticks for garnish
  • Orange peel for garnish

Instructions

Mull the Juice:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberry apple juice, mulling spice blend, orange slices, and fresh cranberries (if using).
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes to allow the spices to infuse into the juice. Be careful not to let the mixture boil, as this can dull the flavor of the spices.

Strain and Add Bourbon:

  • After simmering, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the spices, orange slices, and cranberries.
  • Stir in the bourbon and honey or maple syrup (if using) to taste. Warm the mixture gently over low heat, if needed, but do not let it boil.

Serve:

  • Pour the mulled bourbon into mugs or heatproof glasses.
  • Garnish each serving with a cinnamon stick and a twist of orange peel for an aromatic finish.

Notes

Warm and Cozy: Serve this mulled bourbon warm, making it perfect for chilly fall and winter evenings.
Accompaniments: Pair with spiced nuts, gingerbread cookies, or a cheese board to complement the warm, spiced flavors.
