For the Donuts:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup whole milk or any milk of your choice
- 1/4 cup brewed strong coffee or espresso
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Maple Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2-3 tbsp brewed coffee or milk adjust for consistency
- A pinch of salt
- Optional: A few drops of vanilla extract
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Mix Wet Ingredients:
In another bowl, combine the milk, brewed coffee or espresso, maple syrup, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
Make the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, brewed coffee or milk, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more coffee or milk if needed. Add a few drops of vanilla extract if desired.
